do any of you widen/have ever had to widen down there? i know some girls insert objects, but i've never tried it and i'm afraid i may have to. this is an embarrassing question, but i don't know who else to ask on this. i'm just afraid it's too small or something.

Is this question relating to vaginal stretching in preparation for sex?

Well, if that's your aim, then "sticking random objects" in willy nilly will definitely achieve that goal, but stretching it (the vagina, labia, etc...) probably isn't the best idea. Really it's very elastic on its own and it will stretch to accommodate your boyfriends penis. So I would not waste too much time worrying about it. If you are worried about pain during sexual intercourse or losing your virginity, then you may or may not get that. For some it hurts a lot, for others not at all. And still others its in between. Your best bet is to take it slowly, have an understanding boyfriend, and go into it with a sense of adventure. :kid:

Maybe you should try a smaller absorbency tampon.

It could be due to any number of reasons but I doubt its because you are too small - women are designed to accommodate an erect penis - a tampon is smaller than that.

The most likely explanation is that youre inserting them at the wrong angle or using a tampon that is too big to start off with.
I would suggest you switch to a smaller 'starter tampon'. Applicator tampons are the easiest to use at first. Use a bit of personal lubricant (KY jelly for example) on the tip to help ease it in if needed. Make sure you insert the tampon at the right angle and that you relax before doing so. You're needing to aim back (not up) following the angle of the vagina.
There are usually instructions that some with the packet - have a good read through the instructions and use the diagram thats usually provided.

As for stretching the vagina for intercourse, (which is what I thought you were referring to) Skye was on the right track. I think (from what you've said) once you've mastered using tampons and reassured yourself that you can do that, you'll feel better about everything else.

Take care,

Lena.

Some girls think their first time having sex is painful, while others don't. This is just my idea, but I think most of the pain you feel the first time you have sex is from your hymen breaking. Although, alot of girls hymens break because of things like horseback riding, bike riding, even using tampons.

When I first got my period, tampons hurt too much for me too, so I used pads instead. Then I got a yeast infection and had to use one of the vaginal insert treatments. Inserting it was pretty painful, as it was happening, and it made me bleed. I was only a little sore afterwards, and after labout two days I was fine. I was even able to use tampons without pain.

My gynecologist said that the pain was probably caused by the insertion breaking my hymen. Later when I first had sex I did not experience bleeding and only slight pain. So the pain you feel is most likely not because your vagina is too 'small' but probably because your hymen is still intact.

Truthfully it will more than likely be painful when it does get broken and you will probably bleed, too. But, after the it's broken you'll be fine. Also if you're planning on having your first time use lube! It won't stop the hurting but because you're still tight it'll make things easier.

Hope things get better dear!
