Like they can be a bit hot sometimes, but I used to seek them out when I was younger. Only two times did they get really "hot" that admins had to step in though and I've debated on several sites. If people are open and able to put themselves in others' shoes, it can work out nicely.

Thank you for the suggestion.
We have recently made an effort to consolidate forums in order to provide a more orderly environment where teens have the best chance of getting help quickly.
If there is a topic that you wish to debate, perhaps you should consider making a post in The Lounge, be sure to keep it friendly.
-Hope this helps

We actually used to have it ... we only removed it because we were consolidating forums to make the forums look less cluttered - there was no actual objection on the part of those who made the decision to the content or nature of the debate forum. We should get some healthy debates going, though!

I hope you're OK.
I think the 'Debate Forum' idea is GREAT!!! But obviously there is some resistance to it - which is OK - so why not [Semi-officially] consider the 'Chat Forum' the place to DEBATE?! When a debatable topic is being posted - simply put in the subject line, 'DEBATE:'
For example:
'DEBATE: Are Apples Better Than Oranges?'
lol
Well..... you get the idea!!
Just a thought.
And here's another one.
The first rule of ANY argument [Or debate] is that a person loses the moment they resort to a personal attack.
GREAT BIG HUG
Craig!! :)

I see no need to create a forum for debates.
I agree that civil debates can be had in the chit-chat forum.
Perhaps we should develop a "tag" that should be standard in the description of threads that are for debate, so that people can avoid the thread if they do not wish to be involved, and to assist staff in keeping up with any issues.
