Okay - as most of you know, I'm no stranger to wheelchairs. But, I no longer need one and have finally overcome most of my disability. Well, because of what I went through, I became a home health care nurse - to help those in wheelchairs.
Tonight, I brought my 67 year old stroke patient to meet my family. They somewhat argued about it(while I still had my resident in my truck) and then came outside long enough to say hello and went back inside. Does anyone besides me feel that that was rude of my family? Now everyone is wondering why I'm upset... What would you do if you were in my situation?
Rude?

First off, good for you for overcoming your disability and I think it's really sweet that you wanted to bring her (him?) home to meet your family and just get out and meet people.
However, I do think your family were rude - the least they could have done was put on a happy face and make conversation with an old person to brighten their day. It wouldn't kill them.
I don't really know what exactly you can do about it - maybe just let them know that you really wanted this to be a special day for the person and you feel like they kind of let you down? Anyways, I just wanted to let you know that I think you're right.

yea sammi, that was really rude of them. They should have been nice and respectful to her. She deserves it. Sorry to hear they were like that.
