Hey guys, so i have a slight issue...i'm only 21 years old...and i have completely lost my sex drive. I have absolutely no desire to have sex anymore, it feels like more of a hassle and inconvenience than something fun and exciting. Is this normal? How can I get it back? I know most of the people on here have the complete opposite problem, and since this is helpingTEENS.org a lot of you are probably younger than me...but i don't have anywhere else to turn. Has anyone gone through this? Does anyone have any advice for getting my sex life back on track? Thanks guys for ANY help or advice!

Yes, it's normal. Each person's libido can slow or speed up at different points in life. Some say stress is part of the problem. If you're going through some stressful times, think back to when you had more of a desire to have sex, and were you more stressed, less stressed, or the same stressed as you are now. In terms of getting back into having a more active sex life, talk with your partner. Open communication is key and will help you explain your situation to him. Perhaps try having a romantic evening with him, with candles, soft music, a nice movie, perhaps a bath/shower together where you both wash each other.

Have you started taking any new medicines? Any more stress then normal? Is it your relationship and you are just bored?
I know Anti-depressants and Birth Control Pills can both reduce your sex drive. Also just feeling bad about your self image (have you recently gained weight? Recived a bad hair cut?) Can also have that effect.

There are many different things that can cause your sex drive to decrease. I'm 22 and i've had the same issue. As stated before, stress, birth-control, depression, etc can all cause your sex drive to decrease. For me, mine decreases majorly when I am stressed or depressed. So I talk to my husband and we work through it. Sometimes it will help to put you in the right mood if your partner knows whats going on and works more toward romancing you and making love rather than purely having sex to have sex. It may seem cheesy but it actually helps. good luck =)
