Hey guys,

So in recent years especially, there has been a big movement towards natural childbirth, water births, a return to midwives, etc. What do you guys think about this?

If you ever got pregnant or are pregnant now, which would you choose?

I like the idea of natural childbirth, but I don't know if I could go through with it. I have some nice childbirthing hips on me (so I've been told, haha) so that wouldn't be an issue, but I'm kind of a wimp. Also, I like the idea of a home birth, because I'm not fond of how they whisk the baby away at a hospital, but I do like the idea of being in a hospital if something went wrong. So....maybe one of the water birthing chambers at a hospital with a midwife, but with access to doctors still available?

They didn't take my son away when he was born.. Well they cleaned him up and then gave him to me, but he was in the same room the entire time...
I didn't want my epi at first... then a nurse used me as a pin cushion.. yeah so much fun..

I like the idea of a water birth... but in the hospital.. I could never give birth at home without doctors.. Just the chance that something can go wrong scares me.

I didn't have time for an epi but I wouldn't really change that. Once I found a comfortable position(on my side which the nurse kept putting me back on my back)the pain didn't really bother me. I can never have a home birth cause I'm a high risk pregnancy and now I'm a high risk labor(I hemoraged during child labor) but the birthing in water sounds wonderful!

i thought of becoming a midwife, but then i thought of all that would go with that, and decided against it, i allow my work to get to me too much, but i am all for that movement

that said i think people who go into birth absolutely certain they wont need drugs are silly, i mean there arent many times in your life that you are in that sort of or amount of pain, good on the people who can do it, but seriously keeping an open mind about it is good too. i also really hate any woman who looks down on a woman who chose to use medication during labor, especially the ones who have never given birth (this includes men!)
