You take your important classes (classes that are 1 + in credits) and you see your grade and you give it a numerial meaning.
Like:
if you get an A you get 4 pts.
if you get a B you get 3 pts.
if you get a C you get 2 pts.
if you get a D you get 1 pt.
if you get a F, you get 0 pts.
Then you count your total classes...and you just count them...
So here is a maux report card:
English---93% A....4 pts
American Histort---78% C...2 pts.
Spanish---100% A...4 pts
Math---64% F...0 pts.
Science---91% B...3 pts.
Reading---89% B...3 pts
Total achieved: 16 pts. (the points you got)
Total Classes: 6
Then you take 16/6 and get 2.6666 (the 6's repeat and repeat)
Thus, your GPA is 2.67 (which according to the A-F pts scale-see above-that is a middle C for your GPA)
