Re: Gcse's...
hey, good luck! i had my GCSEs last year lol.
whatever u do, dont cram the night before. thats really bad.also, go to any revision classes, look over your notes before u go to bed (apparently u remeber more before u go to bed) and refresh your memory in the morning. hope this helps.

Re: Gcse's...
Hey I know how you feel, I'm starting my highers (between AS and A2 in England I think) next week and I am absolutely crapping it. I sat my standard Grades (GCSE equivalent) last year.
I have a weird way of studying in that cramming 2 days before the exam DOES work, but it doesn't work for most people. Don't do too much at the one time. You should break it up into smaller portions. When I've got 34-or-so topics to learn for biology I don't think of it like that. I cut down into broader topics like "General Biology" then " DNA replication and protein synthesis" and that way it doesn't scare me as much. Eating bananas, so I've been told, is good brain food. Better than chocolate. It can be hard to sleep the night before the exam but make sure you DO go to bed early, if you stay up studying, chances are you'll be too tired to take anything in.
I used colours and highlighters, diagrams and post it notes to make me remember something. The way I study is writing everything out, and normally that's the way it goes in. So I have a load of coloured pens because I find if I write it all out in black I don't learn it as well. I am artistic with it - capitalising important topics, underlining, highlighting definitions and important bits of information. Then, the parts that I am unsure of, I write down AGAIN on a post it note and stick it somewhere I know I will see. Writing out again has already made me learn it a second time, and I will see it on the walls again.
Before the exam you should flick through your notes but don't do any really major revision. I tend to find if I do try to revise heavily before an exam, I'm so nervous I just confuse myself, making me panic... During the exam you MAY find (I do, without fail) that when you open the paper your mind goes blank. If this happens, close the paper, put you pen down, take a deep breath and clear your mind, then resume the paper. Failing that, keep going through the paper until you find something that triggers your memory. If that happens though, DON'T PANIC!! I can't stress that enough. When you become more relaxed you'll remember everything. Look through the exam paper and keep note of your time, think about how long you want to spend on each question or section. If you can't do a question, skip it, because you might be triggered by another question that will remind you how to.

Don't worry too much purplefaerie, I'm sure you'll do fine. My friend, Abby, is really worried about hers in a couple years... she wants to come over here and go to an American university, so she wants to do really well.... you'll be fine I'm sure. Good luck though! I think the worst part about standardized tests are that you have to waste your time sitting through them!

Re: Gcse's...
hahaha great. i just finished my GCSE's on friday, and i only did a little revision for: German Orals, RS Islam, and Geography... lol (no joke!!!) the rest of the time i sat around thinking of random crap, which probably meant my sub-concious was revising!!! or somit crazy like that... i hardly ever revise.... anywho.... now to mess up my non existant love life.... lol oh, and dont try to take everything in at once.... bit at a time, get a large pad of paper, and write out like a whole page, then take a break to either listen 2 some music (if ur not alrdy) get a drink, draw something, doodle on the next page, anything then do another page... etc. etc. etc. hope it helped!
