Oh, you are the roots that sleep beneath my feet
And hold the earth in place
Each time a faucet opens
Words are spoken
The water runs away
And I hear your name
No, nothing has changed
There was this book I read and loved
The story of a ship
Who sailed around the world and found
That nothing else exists
Beyond his own two sails and wooden shell
And what is held within
All else is sure to pass
We clutch and grasp
And debate what's truly permanent
But when the wind starts to shift
Well, there's no argument
And hold the earth in place
Each time a faucet opens
Words are spoken
The water runs away
And I hear your name
No, nothing has changed

Re: Debate For Biology
Sorry, I'm for dissection.
Against I guess you could say that it's killing animals, it a kind of waste, and opens up opportunities for students to show a lack of respect to them, when they could jsut as easily be one demo.

Re: Debate For Biology
You don't realy learn much from dissection. You can easily see what a frog have inside using models or pictures. If medical students can learn about anatomy using models (not only ofcourse but still ). What is the reson for students to know how to dissect? If they folow later on a biology or simmilar course they will lern it any way if they don't they do not use this knowledge in every day life (hopefuly). It is simply a waste of time and waste of animal.

Re: Debate For Biology
erm
i fink its a bit harsh 2 animals, like u no
disrespecting them, they are already dead, and so people go and cut up their bodies, plus diagrams and models r so much easier (granted people had 2 do dissections 2 make/draw these in da first place), but now we no it isnt helpin ne1 2 cut up mor bodies of animals.
plus, dissections r a bit complicated, nd u dnt reli learn nefin, things r 2 confusing, nd its all diff with real life organs, etc.
plus a lot of people r grossed out by animals, etc
hope this helps,
ps try a search engine like google 4 sum stuff

Hmm, I think you could have a case on cruelty to animals, etc. I'm not really against, but that's because I am going to be a med student in a few years. Otherwise though, I think that if you make a case on cruelty to animals, and then using belis's point about the models, then you'd have a great case. Good luck!

Frogs were not put on the earth for the purpose of dissecting them for classes...it is inhuman and cruel...
I don't know... Personally I'm for it.

Re: Debate For Biology
hmmm...AGAINST....animal rights...animals have feelings, etc..
FOR...the only way to know what's inside an animal is to open it up...For example, you can't assume 2 animals are exactly the same...one could have an abnormal growth somewhere, where the other one is perfectly normal. And even though the 2 appear normal on the outside, internally...they could be very different. Thus, models and pictures won't assist in the learning of the 2.
