Lessons For Nxt Yr....

Post by Halo_n_Horns » Sat Jun 19, 2004 1:48 pm

OK. so im doing the IB diploma...and i am running out of time to decide between geography and art.

Im already taking History, English, German High level and Maths and biology standard level....

i need one more subject, Now i really want to do the art...but it is VERY time consuming and a hell of a lot of work. But i realllllllly wana do it so bad.....

whereas the geography is supposed to be a lot easier and less work as History english and bio are said to be hard at ib already...so the headmaster said if i take art it may be a nice relief but im making myself a hard ib program. But he is rumoured not to like music or art anyway so im stuck.

I need to score as many points as possible...but i duno wat to pick. I wana do art but maybe geog is the better choice? I DONT KNOW what are ur ideas??? HELPPP

Oh...well...I may not be much help then because I don't know much about that, but it sounds like Geography would be the best class to take. Just my opinion though.

Hey...If i were you i would take Art...I mean true, it may be harder, but in the long run you will kick yourself for not taking the class (which you soo wanna take!!) I mean if you wanna take it, take it...Don't take classes that are "blow-off" classes or just to fill a spot that are easy...Take the class you wanna take...It may harm your GPA a slight bit...but if you wanna take it soo bad i am sure you have interest in the class and try, ya know?

Go for it!! :)

What is involved in your art IB?

I did Higher Art and it was a LOT of work, it was really hectic. I regretted taking it all year.

Our course was to consist of 3 A1 sheets of expressive, 3 A1 sheets of design, a final exam of 6 essays in two hours but that meant writing essays every week or two in class to prepare, plus a final exam in the expressive unit. It was really difficult.

What do you want to do after school?

Which subject do you enjoy most?

Which subject do you find easiest?

What is involved in each course?

I think those are questions you want to be asking yourself :)

In Art there are no writing essays or exams for us...but in 2 years we must have produced 12 pieces of work (anything from paintings to other things) and we have work books to update each week and we have to do a self portrait but it can be unusual style if we like etc...no essay or written exam though.

whoa no essays - I think that's fine then! Do you enjoy it? Are you good at it?

We had to produce about 5 high quality still lives at least and then 3 A1 design sheets. This meant collecting loads of materials. I had to go to museums and take photographs around town and stuff. You work towards a final design.

I would say art :) Mind you I personally find geography so boring it makes me want to scratch my eyes out lol

i WAS in ib...

id reccomend you take the easier class. even though u want to get the points, one easier class is a blessing! dont overload yourself with something that is time consuming with all your other ib classes, as you know being an ib student, you wont have time for your all schoolwork, let alone friends and schoolwork!
lets unwravel the egde of time...

without the bad times, the good times wouldnt be so sweet.

BAOF!

its the little things people say that make your whole day worthwile...

Are you really?

Thank god, there's more here like moi! Correction, I'm in preIB right now, but I'll be graduating with an IB diploma.

I suggest that you take the easier class. I've seen so many kids burn out from all the work, so the easier workload, the more time you have with other subjects.

Cheers,
