Protection

I'm wondering if this site offers any sort of protective assistance to its staff. Unfortunately, I am being stalked by a certain member and he got my cell out of my AIM profile. I don't know if he wrote it down before I changed it, but he is threatning to call me all the time and stalk me. He IMs me constantly from a hundred different SN's. I'm wondering if any members would be able to assist me in dealing with this; it is a problem and it's hellishly creepy too.



If this site offers no such protection I'm wondering what legal steps I could take to get an internet user to leave me alone. Please help me with this. I also wanted to make the general public on the site aware of this situation.



TAKE YOUR CELLS OUT OF YOUR AIM PROFILES ETC. YOU NEVER KNOW WHO WILL RANDOMLY DECIDE TO STALK YOU. This site has a lot of great people, but there are some terribly crazy ones too.

What kind of protection can we give?



I always tell people don't give your phone number out on the Internet in public.



This is the best we can offer as we don't have control over you... you could put your number anywhere and give it to anyone. There's nothing we can do to stop you.



Call the police in your situation, talk to them, talk to your parents, talk to your cell phone company.

The protection we offer? Your personal information never leaks. If he found it another way through an online phonebook...that's not our issue. There is not a lot we can do, at all. Just block his phone number and his IM screen names.

i would contact aol and tell them all the screenames this guy has used and maybe they can find out who it is

I've actually tried doing things like that before. AOL does not support or care about AIM users and there is no line to call. If you e-mail them, they will NOT respond. If you e-mail AIM, they won't either.

Well thats odd that they dont respond. Also, isn' it their job to help anyone tha tis having problems that e-mailed them and tryed to find out who it is..I dont know..I would think they would help .... but then again some places they dont care...
