Who's Your Hero?

Post by SweetStuff05 »

Hi, Well I have to write an essay on a hero of mine. And sadly, I don't think I have one. It can't be about parents, so they're out. Can anyone give me some people who think are heros? Maybe Oprah?? I dunno.. but plz help :)

Your friends??
Once in a lifetime, you find the one you really love.

For now and forever, one love that never ends.

Once in a lifetime, when every star that lights the sky.

Will shine with one reason, leading your heart to the one love you find.

Just once in your life..

Once in a lifetime, you find the one you really love.

For now and forever, one love that never ends.

Just once in a lifetime...

I think Oprah is a great one lol. I'd say she could be one of mine, I don't watch her enough. Someone I really respect is my friend Kuryn, but it would be pretty hard to use her. ;)

Maybe a good friend who has helped your life or shown you the way?

Some suggestions (who says you can't discover your hero now!? :P):

Martin Luther King (already suggested)

Nelson Mandela

Mother Theresa

Dalai Lama

Mahatma Gandhi

Albert Schweitzer

Daw Aung San Suu Kyi

Desmond Tutu

David Suzuki

George Cadbury

The list goes on and on and on... If you're the patriotic type, you could look at your country's history and pick out a person of note, whether it be a president or a suffragette.

Perhaps an athlete you admire? A favourite teacher, writer, artist? Perhaps even a current-day politician or activist if you're so inclined?

If you are still stuck, think of something that is very important to you and research someone who has had a positive influence in that field. That may be someone who made a great discovery or someone who wowed the world with an amazing talent of theirs or someone who did something great to help someone else. Maybe all three. What do you think are the most admirable qualities in a person?

Good luck with your essay :)

I don't know if you will have heard of her but one of my favourite heroines is a woman called Phoolan Devi. She born into one lowest classes in India's caste system and survived a horrific lifestyle of rape and torture to fight back against her oppressers and those who oppress women like her and after a long, hard struggle and repeated assassination attempts she became a politician in India, trying to change things for the better.

This is a very short version of the whole story, but it would make a very different and interesting essay if you did a bit of research. Please, anyone but Oprah...

"Is it?"

"Yes," said Eeyore. "However," he said, brightening a little, "we haven't had an earthquake lately."
