Re: Book Recommendations?
Can I suggest Maus (Part I) by Art Spiegelman? It's not so long, and it's really easy to read, and there is a lot to write a report on! Ok I've been in college too long, when you say report do you mean describe what happened or discuss themes and motifs? Hahahaha because a college book report is all themes and motifs and analysis, none of the 'what happened' stuff.
But to Maus: It's really easy to read because it is written in comic book form (pictures and everything), so there is plenty of material there to start from. It is a real tale of Art as a struggling artist/writer/comic writer who is attempting to deal with his somewhat crazy father and get his father's World War II holocaust story out of him. So there is mostly the main story line of what happened to Art's father during World War II, but then there is also material about Art dealing with his father.
It's a very good book. I reccommend it to anyone. I know a few more if you would like.

Re: Book Recommendations?
mmm, if you are really smart...The Old Man and The Sea has a lot of hidden themes and a ton to write on...but it is an extremely advanced book, and it seems that you are looking for an easy way out. if so, this is not the book for you.

Re: Book Recommendations?
This is more of a middle school... type of books... But there are...
The Giver : Is about a uptopia and when this boy finaly completes a ceremn=ony he is the new receiver in which he goes thro pain suffering and the past. You really have to read it to completely understand it
The outsiders (by SE.hinton): It is about a 50's youth gang and their adventure & hardships
The master puppeteer: About a boy name Jiro (this takes place in Japan) It is sort of like a mystery type of book... you have to read it VERY carefully to understand some parts
and where the red fern grows: A book about hunting dogs. Everyone that I have known who has read the book cries at the end :'(
They are all pretty easy books not too hard tho.
and if you need a harder one read "how to kill a mocking bird"
: I havent read this one but the seniors at my school said it was a required book to read that year in order to pass... and they said it was good!
Remember there are sooooooooooooooo many novels to choose from

<span style=\'font-family:Times\'Something told the wild geese
It was tine to go
Through the fields lay golden
Something wispered- "SNOW"
Leaves were green and stirring
Berries,luster-glossed
But beneath the warm feathers
Something cautioned- "FROST"
All the sagging orchards
Steamed With amber spice
But each wild breast stiffened
At rembered ice
Something told the wild geese
It was time to fly-
Summer sun was on their wings
Winter in their cry
It was tine to go

Re: Book Recommendations?
I suggest A Dollhouse, by Henrik Ibsen. It's a play and it's really short and understandable, but it's also high-level reading.

The Bell Jar or Catcher in the Rye.
I had to compare the two for my coursework.

Black beauty is a good book but you have to have some prior knowledge about horses and riding to completely understand the book (it is an easy read book exept the horse terms) which were easy for me because I ride horses

Re: Book Recommendations?
lol, I suggest GREEN EGGS AND HAM!
I read a short story about a month ago called Flowers For Algernon, it was alright. And I had to right an essay on it...not sure if you'd be able to find a copy though.
About A Boy is a good book too, but it's not that short. Really easy to read too

Re: Book Recommendations?
Angus, Thongs, and Full-Frontal Snogging is a hilarious novel, half of the amusement is due to the British dialectical language.
The Giver was great, as was Where the Red Fern Grows (it always makes me cry :'( hehe).
To Kill a Mockingbird isn't a difficult novel, it's required reading for 9th grade here, but I loved that book.
