Ok, I've had this for half a year now.. I always had it actually, but this year it became so bad
Well, when I was little, I watched a lot of horror movies, and I always had that feeling of fear inside, especially at night.. But I fought it, and felt perfectly normal after, wasn't afraid of anything etc.
Now, when I'm 19, I'm afraid of staying alone, afraid of darkness, afraid of everything weird (noises etc.). About half a year ago, when my bf was at my place for vacation (we stayed alone at home for the whole week), we watched horror movies every night. First, it was ok, but one night, while watching, I wanted to go to toilet. We paused the movie, and my bf said 'turn the light on'.
Since that moment, as I remember it clearly, I got SO scared!!! Couldn't go without a light anymore, was so scared to watch horror movies, and I remember crying at night after that vacation, coz I was so scared... Those images of ghosts, monsters, all the crazy stuff just kept popping up in my mind, and immobilised me.. I couldn't move, was too scared to make a noise at night. Imagine how dramatic it was for me if I needed to go to toilet at night.
But yea, it passed.. I wasn't -that- scared anymore, and in about 2-3 months everything was normal. But still now, sometimes, I have those moments, when an image from one of those movies pop up in my mind, and there' nothing I can do to make it go away, and especially to make fear go away. I tried everything I could, everything I learned on psychology, how to make a fear go away.. It just doesn't work..
I just don't know what to do, and I don't wanna talk about it to anybody, coz damn, I'm 19, and I just feel so stupid and ashamed.... :'(

Re: Phobia?..
I get that sometimes too, but it is never that bad or anything, just kinda a weird feeling like somebody is standing over me with a knife like Jason. What I do is just make myself get up and take a little walk around the house. Sometimes it helps to turn on the tv and watch something civilized for a while or something else to help take your mind off it for a little bit. Im sure that scary thoughts go away as time goes by. Just like when kids are little and they are afraid of the BoogieMan
Blame it on the yellow bananas..they just sit there..all..yellow-like!!

Sounds kind of OCD-ish there. I wasn't exactly sure what it is you're afraid of lol it was kind of a lot of things but what is mainly important is physical symptoms with phobias. The DSM criteria is as follows -
Diagnostic Criteria
Marked and persistent fear that is excessive or unreasonable, cued by the presence or anticipation of a specific object or situation (e.g., flying, heights, animals, receiving an injection, seeing blood).
Exposure to the phobic stimulus almost invariably provokes an immediate anxiety response, which may take the form of a situationally bound or situationally predisposed Panic Attack.
Note: In children, the anxiety may be expressed by crying, tantrums, freezing, or clinging
The person recognizes that the fear is excessive or unreasonable.
Note: In children, this feature may be absent.
The phobic situation(s) is avoided or else is endured with intense anxiety or distress.
The avoidance, anxious anticipation, or distress in the feared situation(s) interferes significantly with the person's normal routine, occupational (or academic) functioning, or social activities or relationships, or there is marked distress about having the phobia.
In individuals under age 18 years, the duration is at least 6 months.
The anxiety, Panic Attacks, or phobic avoidance associated with the specific object or situation are not better accounted for by another mental disorder, such as Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (e.g., fear of dirt in someone with an obsession about contamination), Posttraumatic Stress Disorder (e.g., avoidance of stimuli associated with a severe stressor), Separation Anxiety Disorder (e.g., avoidance of school), Social Phobia (e.g., avoidance of social situations because of fear of embarrassment), Panic Disorder With Agoraphobia, or Agoraphobia Without History of Panic Disorder.
But yeah, I believe I am phobic of vomiting for good reason and I'm only not diagnosed because I'm shit-scared of going back to therapy. lol. But if you really think you're phobic you need to get yourself to your doctor ASAP. Left untreated, anxiety disorders only becomes worse

Re: Phobia?..
I definitely know how you feel.
Actually I think I'll PM you, because I'm too embarassed to write it here.
But anyway, my therapist told me that any obsessions we get, serve a purpose. It's not necessarily the film scaring you, but it's a CUE for something else. Maybe a trigger, you know what I mean? Being scared of a film is completely irrational, as you know, so it's probably just standing in for some other fear.
