ok so i have to write a research paper in english...do u guys have any food ideas as to what i could write about? im thinking self harm might be fun and interesting.

Go with self harm if your interested...but I suggest you pick like a subtopic in self harm or else you could go on forever and ever since theres so many diff. types.

Yah, pick something that your interested in. Make sure the topic isnt too broad though.

Personally, I do my research papers on things like...:



Drug use among teenagers

Depression among teenagers

Drug effects and consiquences

Self Mutilation

Teen pregnacy

Everyone does those. Think of something creative. I can't think of any for I am not creative.



I did one on drug testing in schools.

there are lots of great ideas. but remember, like Spitfire said: don't make it TOO broad, or you're going to have a tough time figuring out what to include and what to leave out.



write a topic sentence (or thesis statement) to help guide your paper, once you choose a topic for sure. it can be a question that you intend to answer, or just a statement that you elaborate upon in the rest of the paper.



it's for english, and you said about self harm. that would be an excellent topic (not mentioning that you could post it here for all of you fans to read when you're done!). have you ever read any books that discussed or mentioned SH? do you want to discuss SH in popular culture (today's society)? what about famous people that have been known (or even -unknown-!) to SH? (<--Johnny Depp and Angelina Jolie, from my understanding, were/are SHers... but you should look that up to make sure).



Does that help you get started?

brainstorm about things that are related with SH, if that is your focus, and pose the question or make a statement to guide the research and i think you'll have it under control

i am glad to see that people are writing decent papers! you all make me very proud that the topics are either ignored by society, taboo, make people uncomfortable, or just are out of the ordinary research paper ring of "my report is on george washington. the first president of... blahblahblah"

well if it is too broad it will be qquite long if you go into details about it but if you choose somethng too depressing your teacher might think you do that depressing thing( trust me personal expeirience involving a paper on cutting which led to social severce investigation of my family)-MARY

if u want to stick with self harm narrow it down a bit, cause it's a very broad topic; u could do SH vs. depression for example, or SH among college/ high school ( idk whichever) students ., idk stuff like that

Teen prostitution could be quite interesting.



So could a paper talking about the increase of cocaine use-You could refer to stars like Drew Barrymore or the allagations that Mary Kate Olsen was really sent to rehab by drug abuse, not anorexia.
