Government Grants

Hey all, I'm a HS junior, so I figured I should start thinking about how I'm going to pay for college. Does anyone know a good website for college grants? Any help is excepted.

Yeah, loans, they'll give them to you, but grant and scholoships you gotta write essays for. I know it blows big chunks but yeah.

For grants and scholarships, based on the school you choose to attend, many private colleges offer extensive financial aid (need-based) so that you'd be able to attend.



Otherwise, you'd better get really good at writing essays and such.. unless you want to WORK during college. eww.

MOST people work during college. A significant amount, at least. Both my sisters are in college and they both have jobs. My sister Rachel has TWO part time jobs.



And they both have plenty of time for school and social lives.



So don't worry if you have to work, Fallon. It's totally normal.

It's too bad that you feel that way. You'll be doing a lot of essay-like writing when you are in college and I think that you are missing the point of why there are scholarships. Scholarships were created to help those that wanted to continue their education but needed some financial help. I would say that writing an essay is a small consolation for getting a scholarship! One teen (whom I assume wanted to go to college ever so badly) got 11 scholarships to pay his entire tuition! Clearly he is an example of someone who wanted it badly enough.



There are some scholarships where essentially you don't have to do anything but fill out forms - but if you are looking to finance your entire college career you should be looking for as many financial programs that you can find. There's a movie called "From Homeless To Harvard" that I think that you should take a look at. It is based on a true story.



And who says that "working" has to be all doom and gloom. There are some students that finance their way through college doing all sorts of computer and Internet related stuff - that is - if your computer inclined. You could even start a little business on the side to help supplement your financial needs - something like babysitting or doing some sort of creative work.



It depends on how badly you wnt it.

I'm looking for the same thing to pay for college. I'm going to be a senior this year and need money for college. I have also with fastweb.com. I did one eassy that I found on their website . .nothing yet. I'm still looking though.
