Starting A Gsa

Post by sayhellomylove »

i've been trying to get a GSA underway at my school for a couple of months now. i've sent numerous emails to all of the administrators, and i've tried to set up little meetings in which we would discuss a GSA. my only problem is that the admins seem to be running from me. i can never get an answer out of anyone, and it's starting to get beyond frustrating. i feel like my only resource left is the ACLU, which i shy away from, simply because i do not want to bring about a bad reputation for the GSA. and having a meeting off of school property isn't really in the picture. i feel its rather degrading, i mean, if thats the case, shouldn't every other 'non academic organization' have to meet off of school property as well?.. i just want a place to talk about issues relevant to the GLBT students. so, i guess what i'm really getting at, is does anyone have any experiences or advice?

love.
Measure me in metered lines, in one decisive stare,

the time it takes to get from here to there.

My ribs that show through t-shirts and these shoes I got for free;

I'm unconsoled, I'm lonely.

I am so much better than I used to be.

Persistence...we have one at our school, but it's hard to get it started. I am straight, but have friends who are involved in it.

As a sidenote: I started my GSA so I can apply for gay scholarships.

If I hadn't and somebody else had started one, I wouldn't attend.

So GSA...

It's pretty intersting, I guess.

The only word I can possibly use to describe it is...weird.

We have the weird gay kids come.

The cool open ones don't give a fuck about joining a GSA.

They know who they are and they're happy with their lives.

The kids who come to GSA are the closeted creepy ones who either:

A. stalk me

B. stalk somebody else in there

or

C. secretly devote shrines to one of the members who show up.

Good luck man. We're like, doing something for day of silence.

Oh, another thing.

The kids who come aren't productive.

So be prepared to do a lot of work for kids who half care but aren't willing to compromise their outness in any way to help you.

Haha, sorry if this sounds negative.

Maybe my GSA is just an exception.

Cheers,

Jenna

The tragedy is the ignorance behind the clean casket

On the outside, they look so good

They're walking to Wallstreet in a straightjacket...

I've actually recieved a lot of comments similar to yours. And.. I guess I should take note of them, but I am nothing if not persistant. And a horrible speller, but that is another story. I'd love to say that I don't expect any of the 'weird gay kids' at my school to join, and that I don't expect there to be any problems, but I'd totally be lying. And as for stalking, I've got just about every lesbian(and 2 gay guys) all over me for some reason.

The whole situation is just so terribly frustrating.

Ah well. The gay scholarships would be a ton of help.

I really don't know what any of what I've just said has to do with anything particularly relevant, so.. I'm out.
