Big Question On College And Transfers

Post by lyn4sho »

Okay, I am going to CC this year, and I am planning on working my butt off, get a 4.0, and retake my SATs to get better scores, and what for? I want to be able to transfer to Yale University next school year. I know, big big dream, might not happen, etc. etc. leave negativity at the door. I do have a question though

My current major is Elementary Ed. and Yale does have a Teacher Prep program. I was wondering though, should I change my major as undecided and then apply? Would Yale look down on me because of my major?

Hoping for some help!!! I have two weeks to decided.....

Thanks again

-Lyn

Well, you don;'t necessarily need test scores to transfer. As for your major, I'm not sure it much matters either way, though it looks better if you have a major I think.

I know I don't necessarily need them, however, if I had higher SAT scores, wouldn't it help my chances?

Perhaps after a freshman transfer, but as you get more college under your belt, those scores are pretty meaningless. I have no idea what type of standards Yale has though. I transferred to a Big 10 school that has about half the country going here. And I did it after about 2.5 years of college, so my SAT scores were never even an issue. They just wanted a copy of my college transcript. Though I seem to remember that for people transferring with less than a year of high school, they wanted a high school transcript to. Have you tried getting in touch with any Yale admission counselors yet? They would probably be the most qualified to answer your questions.
