Which Is Worse?
Which is worse:
Missing an opportunity and then regretting it in the future for not doing it ....
or
Taking an opportunity and then regretting it in the future for doing it???
Why????
*Keep in mind this is all in general*

Re: Which Is Worse?
i think the 1st one is worse because at least with the 2nd one u know what was going to happen and u can say that u at least tried. if u do the first one u will always regrett it and wonder what would have happened if u had taken the opportunity.
its better to have people think you're stupid then open your mouth and prove it

Re: Which Is Worse?
First one definitely. If you don't take the oppertunity you never know what might've happened. If you did take it and something bad happened, then at least you went for it and tried it and have that experience to learn and grow from.
"There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under heaven: a time to be born and a time to die, time to plant and a time to uproot, a time to kill and a time to heal, a time to tear down and a time to build, a time to weep and a time to laugh, a time to mourn and a time to dance, a time to scatter stones and a time to gather them, a time to embrace and a time to refrain, a time to search and a time to give up, a time to keep and a time to throw away, a time to tear and a time to mend, a time to be silent and a time to speak, a time to love and a time to hate, a time for war and a time for peace."

Re: Which Is Worse?
I think the first one is definately worse, just due to the reason that you have already experienced it and you know that you didn't miss out on anything. If you never did it you would regret it I know I would. ~Jackie

Yep, the first one is worse, cause you'll never get to know what would have happened if you took that opportunity. With the second one you know what happened and dont have to wonder during all your life "what if..."

Re: Which Is Worse?
regretting doing it because then it makes you feel less valuable as a person. i know this from experience: there's been things i regret not doing and i admit that it sucks but i try to remember that doing that could have resulted in something REALLY bad and prevented other good things that destiny intended for me. it's a lot harder to forgive yourself for something bad you did than for something potentially good you didn't do. even tho u wish you could go back and try again, at least you don't think you're a bad or worthless person.

Re: Which Is Worse?
Yeah, see, I'm a lot harder on myself for things I didn't do. Things I DID do, I KNOW I was only taking the risk and there was no way I could have known the outcome, and that everyone makes mistakes about stuff. But when I don't do it, who knows how much different things would have been if I'd only tried. *sigh* Yeah. Stupid, stupid, stupid. *beats head against wall*

No your not. I think
Taking an opportunity and then regretting it in the future for doing it???
is much worse.
I would rather regret what i have DONE than regret not doing it. I mean you would always have the constant "What if" nagging in the back of your mind.
Trust me I have that ALL of the time because of a past experience and it is MUCH harder to forget something that i WISH i had done than something I did. But thats only me personally.
~ Tell me all your problems & I'll try my best to kiss them all away ~
Now here you go again, you say you want your freedom
Well who am I to keep you down
It's only right that you should play the way you feel it
But listen carefully to the sound
Of your loneliness
Like a heartbeat drives you mad
In the stillness of remembering what you had
And what you lost
Well It's only me that wants to wrap around your dreams
I love you...

Re: Which Is Worse?
Yea, that's exactly what I thought. There are so many things I wish I would have done...instead of dilly dallying around thinking "oh no...maybe i shouldn't...but I want to...aaah" and then eventually not doing it. I really really hate that. But if you do something and find out later that it wasn't such a great idea, at least you can learn from it, grow as a personOriginally posted by MaxPowerMrs@May 28 2003, 08:32 AM

I'd say the first one would be worst, at least with the second one you have the chance to build on your experiences.

you misread... i said that the one i thot was that i regret doing something more. from experience of both, i believe its worse to regret something you did. you can make something better of your life than what you "could" have done and eventually get past it saying "i'm happy that things turned out this way" but what you actually have done is a count against your character and yourself as a whole. i don't know how many of you have MAJOR regrets and i mean MAJOR but i have one and i would much rather have missed out on it and wonder what if that have gone through with it.

At least you took the chance and knew that you didn't like it.
Then you'll learn from the mistake.

Re: Which Is Worse?
I believe the first one is worse. No matter how much you regret something you did, at least you learn from it and it makes you a better person. Each decision you make directly affects the rest of your life.
For example:
My papaw agreed to pay for my dad to go to college (right after he got out of highschool) as long as he passed all his classes. Well, my dad failed a class when he could've tried harder and passed. So my papaw stopped paying for his college, which made my dad decide to go into the marine core instead. He made practically no money in there, so he got a job at TI. He met my mom there, which later resulted with him having a happy family with two kids. So, of course my dad regrets not trying harder in school and graduating, but if he had've... then he wouldn't have me or my mom and sister. See, every little decision you make turns out to be a turn in the path of your life. By the way, my dad just got his college degree a few weeks ago after attending night school on and off for about 10 years... and he had his whole family cheering for him when he walked across the graduation stage.

I forgot to pay the electricity bill on my mind... therefore, my thoughts are dark.
