in highschool to repeat te whole grade you need to fail everything. for just a class agian, a fail. and if you are not in highschool you cant fail.

in elementary school and middle school they practicly pass u no matter what. i think in the high school i'm going to go to they let u keep going to the next grade until u become a senior and if u've failed too many classes u don't graduate and become a "5th year senior"

Well, in my school... there's a pretty clear system. We get report cards every six weeks. There's 3 sets of six weeks in a semester, two semesters in each grade. At the end of each semester we take finals, which count as one seventh of our semester final. Each six weeks grade is multiplied by two to count as the other six sevenths. So, in other words...



In physics, I got a 96 the first six weeks, a 92 the second six weeks, and a 94 on the third six weeks. I got a 98 on the semester final.

96 x 2= 192

92 x 2= 184

94 x 2= 188

98 x 1= 98

192+184+188+98= 662

662 / 7= 94.57



So my physics grade for the semester would round up to be a 95. To pass, you need a 70 or above (or at least that's how it is where I live). If someone fails a class for the semester, then they have to take the semester that they failed over again the next year or in summer school, unless it was an elective. If they fail both semesters, then they have to take that class over again for a whole school year. They would only have to redo the classes that they failed, and they're classified as a member of the next grade level if they have a certain amount of credits, which they get for passing their classes. I believe they can get enough credits to move on to the next grade level by passing most of their classes, but they still have to retake the ones they failed even if they are officially classified as a member of the next grade level.



Anyways, I think that's the way it works in most highschools... but I'm not sure if you're in highschool or not. In middle school, I believe that they take all your report card grades in each class for the year and average them out. If it's passing, then you pass for the year and move on to the next grade level. If it's failing, then you either get held back or you have to go to summer school. It all depends on where you live though.

up till HS, they have to ask your parents to hold you back.... up in the HS, if you get a E (59% or less) you lose a half credit... lose too many and you become a 2nd time senior, or be trancefured to a different school

In our school it's like 20 or 25 Fs for the year.

in my old high school (graduated) it was pretty easily to fail cause the school was so hard...actually if you failed the final and teh last grading period you would fail that class for the year.

Well at my school we go by credits. If you don't have enough credits you don't go on. It go's 5 to 10, 10 to 15, 15 to 21. So you need 21 to gradulate. I'm a junior and I have 19. Thats realy good. but yea. We go by credits.

You can fail up to 4 classes and still be held back, you don't have to fail everything.

IN our school, you have to fail all the 'essential' subjects, i.e. English, Maths, French and one science...

For us a fail is anything under 3.5 (we're graded out of 7), so under 50%

If you get below 63% at our school you flunk the course... and you have to retake it if it is required and you dont get the credits until you pass it.

At my school its just percent! You need a 50% to pass your class and get a credit.. I got one out of 8 credits this year...stupid me<

hrm possibly, it really depends on your school though, every schools different.

pft people at my school get held back if they get more then 4 c's its really lame thank god im leavein that skool lol

I fugure that, if you were at my school, they wouldn't put you back for that...no, I know they wouldn't put you back for those grades. Plenty of kids get worse grades...
