Think You Have A Virus?

Post by Skye » Wed Aug 13, 2003 10:53 pm

I have a quick fix for everyone. It's an online virus scanner by Panda Anti virus. It will scan your computer for virus's and anything else harmful and remove it from your system. I already recommended it to Steve and he thanked me a lot. So, here's your chance to check your system for computer virus's. This will take some time depending on the speed of your computer, but it will work flawlessly, even if you have a slow computer.

Click here and accept all security warnings. They're a trustworthy company and won't install anything that will spy on you or stuff. This will, as I said above, scan and eliminate any known virus on your system. Including the latest one to hit the world "MSBlaster worm."

After you have run the virus scan and eliminated the virus, if there was any. Update windows through "Windows Update," which is found at the top of your start menu. If you deleted it by accident, open Internet Explorer, go to the tools menu and click "Windows Update." You should install anything that says "Critical" or "security" anywhere on it.

You should post this for everyone to see.
Whatever our failings may be, we need not lower our eyes in the presence of Jesus...Jesus comes not for the super-spiritual but for the wobbly and the weak-kneed who know they don't have it all together, and who are not too proud to accept the handout of amazing grace. As we glance up, we are astonished to find the eyes of Jesus open with wonder, deep with understanding, and gentle with compassion.

Bateluer, I'd also like to add that you mentioned no version number... :)

jeffal15, you're more than welcome. I'm glad I helped somebody with it. :)

Dream, McAfee sucks. I don't like it at all. I think Panda and Norton are far better. :)

Oh, so cool. I'm happy for you. You should run virus scans every two weeks. :)

Haha, well, you're wrong there. McAfee sucks, Norton 2003 is beaten by Norton 2004, which is soon to be released since the beta process is nearly done. So, in a few months you'll see Norton Systemworks 2004. If you go to a computer store, you'll find that they're clearancing 2003. :)

FIREWALLS DO NOT BLOCK VIRUSES

grr i hate the people who think that.

Firewalls look at a set of rules...

if comes from here, and is this, let it pass through

if it coems from here, and is that, drop so it doesnt come in

if comes from here and is that, drop so it doesnt get out

if comes from here, and is this, let it pass though.

IF your friend sends you an email worm, the EMAIL IS ALLOWED IN.. only an antivirus program can attack it at that point. If it's something like that virus that exploits Windows RPC calls, then yes, the firewall protects you.... TO AN EXTENT, if set properly.
