Bands

Post by OurLadyOfSorrows »

Anyone got any bands they'd like to suggest i listen to?

Popularity doesn't bother me. Something preferably a bit less metal like and with good lyrics. I dont mind screaming as long as its not throughout the whole song.

The rest is upto you guys

OK, here's a few bands I like and some of their best songs. Enjoy.

Sonic Youth - Death Valley '69, 100%, Kool Thing, Teen Age Riot, Sugar Kane.

The Smiths - How Soon Is Now, This Charming Man, Still Ill, Hand In Glove, There Is A Light That Never Goes Out.

Massive Attack - Angel, Protection, Risingson, Teardrop, One Love, Safe From Harm, Unfinished Sympathy.

Joy Division - Love Will Tear Us Apart, Passover, Twenty Four Hours, Transmission, Interzone.

Interpol - PDA, Obstacle 1, NYC, Roland, The New.

The Cure - Boys Don't Cry, A Forest, Faith, Other Voices, Lovesong, Pictures Of You.

Sonic Youth make great noisy hard art-rock, The Smiths are the definitive indie miserableists of the 80's UK, Massive Attack are the trip-hop pioneer Bristolians who epitomised the early 70's, Joy Division are the ultimate post-punk goths, Interpol are the 'new' Joy Division, with better music and The Cure are just unfathomably brilliant.

I quite liked one of The Streets songs, but since that song, I've never eard of them again. The Coral and The White Stripes are ok, Red Hot Chillis = ok. Evanescence = excellante! But, I HATE anything that makes your ears numb, especially heavy metal. That is just the lowest of the low.

download "Save Yourself" by Stabbing Westward, and you'll most likely be hooked on them.

I love Stabbing Westward, I recommend "Haunting Me" from them also
