No, it's because you no longer have ISA slots on your system and because PCI IRQ Steering is built into all the new OS's.

This is Microsoft's KB article for the days of when PC's were built with ISA slots, but since everything no longer uses ISA (except really old machines like my old one), PCI IRQ Steering was built into the OS by default. I know this because my Prof spent a good 2 weeks on PCI bus's with the North Bridge and South Bridge teaching us the speeds, the FSB's the technical aspects of PCI/ISA/EISA/VESA/AMR slots.



I had to know this for A+ certification. Trust me, A+ book says and so does MS, just now they don't call it 'PCI IRQ Steering' as there are no longer ISA slots available on MB's
