Okay in this topic you have to share some words of wisdom with the rest of us. Could be a quote you like, a poem or just general talk, could be something you read somewhere that you liked or mad eup by you. But it has to apply to you someway as in be something you relate to.

One of my favorite quotes applies here very well:

I collect quotes, I have so many, but that one is something that really rings true and that I can really relate to. *thinks* I think that was the quote that started my colection as a matter of fact.

Wow, I like that a lot.



I like the starfish story. When I'm trying to make a difference, if it's by giving advice to a friend, or volunteering or whatever... I get discourged sometimes. It helps when I think of this story..



A man was walking along a deserted beach at sunset. As he walked he could see a young boy in the distance, as he drew nearer he noticed that the boy kept bending down, picking something up and throwing it into the water. Time and again he kept hurling things into the ocean.

As the man approached even closer, he was able to see that the boy was picking up starfish that had been washed up on the beach and, one at a time he was throwing them back into the water.



The man asked the boy what he was doing, the boy replied,"I am throwing these washed up starfish back into the ocean, or else they will die through lack of oxygen. "But", said the man, "You can't possibly save them all, there are thousands on this beach, and this must be happening on hundreds of beaches along the coast. You can't possibly make a difference." The boy smiled, bent down and picked up another starfish, and as he threw it back into the sea, he replied.



"Made a difference to that one"

"People come and go - I'm the one who stays no matter what"



no idea if I worded it right, but with this quote I mean that you should love yourself no matter what, accept yourself the way you are, change if you feel like it, but never hate or dislike yourself. Coz hating yourself you can never be strong and independent, and you can never learn to stay alone and be hapy alone, coz as I said, people come and go. I just made up this quote coz i've been through a lot in my life, I've moved a few times and always had to say goodbye to my friends, moved abroad, which was the most difficult, especially for me who had no self esteem. And if I didn't realize that (what was said in that quote), I think I'd be dead by now, of all the depression and loneliness. I lost some of my friends when they were the only ones I had who made me happy and made me feel strong.. So then I decided not to hold on to the people, but hold on to myself and learn to stay alone.. And I always had this quote in my mind

I love that quote- I remember that everytime I cry (though thats not a lot which i don't think is a necessarily a good thing.. ) .. that its really just me thats making me unhappy, I don't REALLY have to let anyone else make me sad.. and that seems to help me a LOT
