Marriage Amendment Thrown Out

Judge throws out same sex marriage/civil unions ban in Louisiana



As many of you know, Lousiana voters overwhelmingly approved a state constitutional amendment that banned same-sex marriage and civil unions in that state. Well, a decision by a state judge will overturn the amendment itself because, according to the judge, it was flawed in that it had more than one purpose. Apparently amendments can't do that.



Thoughts? Opinions? Let's try to stay off the subject of whether or not gay marriage should be legalized and focus on what's happening here.

Maybe I missed it, but are they going to make a new legal amendment to vote for (i.e. one for marriage and one for civil unions)?

I would assume that they will eventually, but for now they plan on challenging the ruling.
