I dunno, but I find this to be pretty interesting...

He's saying that those areas that are "conservative" now were "conservative" back then. He's trying to point out that they were morally wrong before and we're seeing the same kind of thing today. (If I'm interpreting this right)

And, btw, I'm not taking sides in this (for those of you that I'm sure will accuse me of it).

Yeah, I've seen that one too. Kind of eerie... and yet strangely unsurprising.
Democracy. It rolls off the tongue nicely. Better than others. I can say it, spell it, define it, but can?t admit to ever believing it. So convoluted has it become that it has mesmerized generations into a comma of perfect sublimity. You dance to the music of your youth, identify with your own memory, become a time capsule of numb comfort. And there, mired in the exhaustion of a life in progress, you surrender your right to question for the luxury of not being bothered.

Notice the areas that allowed slavery, now look at the areas that voted for Bush. If you still don't get it then ask and I'll try to explain it to you.

That's an interesting coincidence but since I didn't live in the time of slavery and neither did my ancestors, there's no coorelation. Just a coincidence.

Your ancestors didn't live in the time of slavery? Everyones ancestors lived in the time of slavery, they may not have lived in the US at the time, but the US wasn't the only nation with slavery.

As far as it being a coincidence, I don't think it is. I'm pretty sure it would be safe to say that there is a direct correlation between the two. How so you ask? When people came to America and started settling, their families stayed in the general area. Many, if not most, families have a long standing family history in the general area they live in. For example, when my ancestors came to the United States from Finland in the late 1700's they settled in Aberdeen, Washington. While my Grandpa was tracing our family tree, he found something rather interesting, with an exception of my two aunts, not a single member of our bloodline lives outside the state of Washington. When he submitted his findings to the Smithonian(sp) he asked them about that and they had found this was actually a pretty common occurance throughout the United States.

So basicly, a majorty of the families in the south have been in the south for generations.

The south has always been "conservative." I do believe that they were solidly democratic for a long time. That is, until the democratic party figured out that black people deserved the same rights and white people. Then, they turned republican and haven't looked back.

Go to the website http://www.fuckthesouth.com and it should explain everything about those two maps.
I walk alone

I am alone

I think alone

I'll die alone

Don't think I can make it on my own

I think I need someone to SAVE ME!

What ever happened to the young mans heart

Swallowed by pain

As he slowly fell apart!

And im starrin down the barrel of a 45

Swimming through the ashes of a normal life

No real reason to accept the way things have changed

Starring down the barrel of a 45

Just to be clear I was talking about the link to the writing, not the maps.
