Stupid Prvtect

ok so there's this thing on all my computers and I don't know what its called, but the file is in c:\windows\system32\prvtect.exe and no matter what i do to it, it will not die - manual deleting, moving, whatever, it's always in use and I can't do anything with it, and it's screwing up my computer. Any ideas?

It's not a virus. It's spyware. The only way to remove it..

Turn your computer on in Safe Mode, and find

"C:\WINDOWS\System32\prvtect.exe"

and delete it. Its the only way to get rid of it. You gotta turn your comp on in Safe Mode, and delete it.

... Isnt spyware a virus though? Ugh. Lol. I dont know, I looked it up and from what i got from the description i was almost positive it was a virus.

how do you turn it on in safe mode? i have it on both my Windows98 PC and on the XP system....man this is sad. i know nothing about computers.

when you boot up your computer, just before the Windows 98 Screen pops up press F8 and a menu will pop up... choose safe mode

Samt thing. As you start the computer up, press F8 a couple of times and select "Safe Mode".
