Dns Servers

Post by Paris In Flames »

Heya,

I'm trying to change my DSN servers and I put in valid addresses...

Yet, the site I'm trying to access isn't showing up.

Any ideas?

Cheers,

DNS = Domain Name System

DSN = Data Source Name

2 of the most common mis-interchanged words that mean 2 different things.... (just thought i'd point that out :P)

Trying to change DNS servers at the Registrar level requires that the Registrar ALREADY know the IP addresses of the name servers that you are inputting. If they are not taking, there is usually a section to 'register name servers' (to add the hostname and it's associated IP address to their system so that you can use them) or 'create name servers based upon the domain name' (ie ns1.domain.com).

Either one of these options will work for you.

I can't think of a better use of server resources... I really can't.
