The state has the right to allow that if they want. I don't agree with it, but I don't want the federal government intervening in a state issue. Though I'm sure this will renew the push for the federal government to ban gay marriage because of a "slippery slope."

The odds of first cousins having babies with birth defects are REALLY RARE.
In lots of countries...like South America...which is actually a continent...lol...they marry first cousins over and over again...and will pretend that people are farther away on the blood line just so they can marry....sometimes there have brothers or sisters or something like that...and defects in the children are rarely seen. What you have to look out for is direct blood lines...like sis/bro/mom/dad/grandpa....and still the defects don't happen as often as we think they do....
The social thing would be hell....although I have heard that in the southern states this is a common thing...lol...I'm not saying like 1 out of every 10 familys are made of cousins marrying but it does happen more often then we think...
I think its okay personally(although i would reccomend looking out of the family before settling on the family)....first cousins...b/c its not incest...its weird though...lol...and i would NEVER do that ever.
