The topic is self-explannatory. I'm trying to change my avatar and it says that it was done successfully, but my old one comes up.

Clear your browser cache. The one I see is a stick figure looking at a yellow star and has the text "I like pretty things" in it. Obviously this is the new avatar you uploaded. So just clear your browser cache and you will be fine.
