Well, as some of you may have known, I used to shareboard a black 4-year-old Appendix Quarter Horse gelding named Quinn. The only way I could afford him was by splitting the boarding fee with my cousin (aka shareboarding). My cousin recently got out of the agreement with me and bought her own horse with her husband (thanks, cuz ). So I was devistated, of course, and pretty sure that would be the end of owning horses for me. Until we went to an appraiser (someone who tells you how much your horse is worth, usually judging by how well trained/experienced they are in their discipline, and how desired their bloodlines are), who told us Quinn could probably bring in $25,000! I only paid $3,500 for him, so I made quite a bit of profit. (He was worth so much because we had recently been showing him in the "A" curcuit jumper/equitation, and an amazing professional dressage trainer (Anne Marrs) came to the barn and used him whenever she hosted a clinic.)
My dad is a horse trainer, so when I told him we were going to sell Quinn he offered to help me with money to buy another horse! A few days ago we found a man who was interested in him and offered $20,000. I accepted and my poor baby was gone the next day. At least I know he went to a great home with an experienced jumping enthusiast and 2 children.
Last weekend I found the horse of my dreams. Matthew and I searched high and low, and when we found her, she sure didn't come cheap. Sure Unforgettable aka "Rosie" is a dark bay 8-year-old Thoroughbred mare with lines back to Man o War. This is the most amazing horse I've ever seen. She schools 5'0" double oxers and easily shows 4'6" I mean dayum, this mare jumps anything you put in front of her! Ok, so she's not perfect in every way...after all, she IS a mare and she IS a Thoroughbred...not a very good combination, but I'll teach her some manners in no time. She's a sweetie though and loves to cuddle. I'm going to have so much fun with her. I wonder how many times I'll get thrown off of this one...
I just needed to vent because I'm so excited. Thanks for listening, guys!
x Shelle
P.S. Attached is the only picture I have so far of Rosie. It is when I was trying her out the day I bought her. It's the only picture you'll get of me, so enjoy it. Thanks go out to Matt who did the honors.

You're welcome.
I love horses (I think its in the genes - my mother used to work with race horses), but I'm thousands of miles away in the UK.
Take care,
Lena. xx

Re: My Horsie
Actually, it is. She's going to be trained more and more, so if I ever am in need for lots of money, I could sell her and make a profit (like I did with Quinn).Originally posted by yoaliens3000@Aug 10 2005, 02:55 PM
What a great investment...
