802.x is the Wireless standard.

802.11b is 11Mbits, 802.11G is 54 Mbits, and there is a new standard that is coming out called 802.11N - right now, there is no 'standard' so there are brand new routers out that are 'Pre-N' routers - with the new standard, it will be 120Mbits.

Your mother is not on a wireless connection if she's at 100 Mbits - you may have a wireless router that is a G router, but all routers come with at least 4 wired connections. If your mother was 100.0 back then, it is because she was connected through a wire. There are no wireless connections that could sustain 100.0 Mbits at present, except for the BRAND NEW 'Pre-N' standard - which has only been on the market for a couple of months.

She's wired into the router - and 54 Mbits is pretty fast... that's 6.75 Megabytes per second (theoretical) - so about 5 Megabytes per second - that's 1 mp3 in 1 second transfer.

In terms of mIRC - that's a firewall issue - it could be on your local computer, or it could be a firewall on your router - you'd have to ask if you don't know about the router, but for on your computer, disable any 'security' software (not antivirus) and in Start Control Panels - Windows firewall.

I can't think of a better use of server resources... I really can't.

Maybe some sort of firewall/access control on the router?
.... and then the post was through.
