Hardware Failure?

Post by amatasu »

Mysteriously my Panasonic p4 winxp Sp2 laptop started giving file errors. One which is Generic Host Process, Explorer, the usual microsoft stuff. I rebooted and since then, the laptop hasn't been the same. I try to open applications and then blue screen and crashes. Then restart and even try to open it and it just lags.

The thing is, why I think it's a hardware failure is when I tried using a live cd of ubuntu, kernal unpacked and everything was starting up until I reached the window file system or whatever. Ubuntu would just sit there.

So, Could it be memory? Bad Hard Drive now? Motherboard? CPU maybe?

By the way, if you're going to say it's a virus. Stop now because both virus scans worked ealier that day and nothing out of the normal.

You are right, does sound like a hardware failure... does not really sound like a harddrive failure, but it could be anything else you listed...

Memory problem. I should have isolated that problem before reformating my hard drive ;). Oh well.
