The Ear For Music

Post by Sk8r_4_LiFe »

An ear for music, couple of qualities that would define it

1. Listening to a song and being able to pick out a percussion beat, bass beat, and guitar beat, and other stuff (depends on what ur listening too).

2.Can take a song and remove like the bass beat or the guitar or drum and within a good few minutes can figure out the song on piano, drums, guitar, bass, etc.

3. Actually takes time to listen to the lyrics or the musical interpretations.

4. Understands that music has certain moods, and its best to listen to certain music at certain times.

5. Listens to Pink Floyd.

Me: Well they probably get more women than we will ever in our lives combined

Rosca: Yea cause they're gay. . .

I like music but I don't think I have an ear for it. I would be so bored without music.

Whenever you grow up with as much music as I grew up with, you almost have to have some sort of ear for music. lol Music is a large part of my life. I have an ear for music. Everyone teases me for how much I actually pay attention to the lyrics and how I pick apart songs and stuff. lol

I demand that you all hand in a 3-page essay on why The Wall is the best-written album ever before I accept the fact that you listen to Pink Floyd.

Your eyes they penetrate me,

blah blah blah. . .pink floyd is the greatest band alive. . . .blah. . .blah. . . darkside of the moon . . .blah. . .blah.

In conclusion, Pink Floyd's the Wall, is an entire symbollic piece of art, which deals with our society and how it is the Wall. The wall is a double-edge object. Despite, how much we hate the Wall, because it separates us from other people, which is very similar to the Berlin Wall, and the Neo-Nazism, which can be heard in the song In the Flesh (pt.1&2), we can't destroy the Wall, because the Wall is the structure that enables us to be what we are. Although, especially in young people, we rebel and have total disgust for the Wall, as we grow older we too become bricks in the wall, hinted at with the song Another Brick in the Wall (pt.1,2,&3). Drugs, despair, loneliness, these are just more steps in our rebellion to bring down the Wall. In the end, we are all part of the Wall, and it can't be destroyed, however, just like another brick, we can be replaced very easily, making our own existence dependant on the Wall.

(Yea i Know i left out a good deal about War life and how it affects the mind psychologically but this is one of my own feelings when listening to the whole cds - especially songs like Nobody's Home, Hey You, Another Brick in the Wall, In the Flesh, The Trial, Comfortably Numb, etc.)

i know its not three pages, but did u seriously want a whole babble about Pink Floyd being the best band in the world?! RAWR

i would say that i have a very good ear for music...i'll listen to anything (except rap, or any of that kind of music, and country). one minute i'll be listening to the Alternative Rock band Radiohead, and the next i'll be listening to a symphony by Brahms...i'm gonna make a separate post of my Music Theory in the forum hehe.
