My general rule: if it would bother you, don't do it. If they already do it, and it does bother you, do it anyways. ;)
"There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under heaven: a time to be born and a time to die, time to plant and a time to uproot, a time to kill and a time to heal, a time to tear down and a time to build, a time to weep and a time to laugh, a time to mourn and a time to dance, a time to scatter stones and a time to gather them, a time to embrace and a time to refrain, a time to search and a time to give up, a time to keep and a time to throw away, a time to tear and a time to mend, a time to be silent and a time to speak, a time to love and a time to hate, a time for war and a time for peace."

Why does she even have to know? It isn't a big deal. It's not like you're going to dump her and run away and get married to Squee or anything.

At least, I hope not. ;)

I mean, don't lie. But why bring it up at all?

Shit Steve.... ya gotta grow some balls man. Women should be treated with respect, but that in no way means that you should be 'checking with your girlfriend' before you do things. If you want to write a friend, that's fine and dandy. You shouldn't have to ask her permission to do so! If she does get pissy and angry, then I would say she wants to control your life too much. If someone really loved you they wouldn't ask you to change anything.

If my Fiance wrote a girl, I would be kinda worried. I would want to know, and I would like to read the letter before hand... its that little nerve inside of me that says "WAIT! hes talking to another girl... should i be worried?" she might not like the idea, which she dose have a right to not like the idea. Be open with her, write it when our next to her. after a letter or two, she'll start not to care.... at least i wouldn't :)

Trust/love/maturity should make it okay. Why by so focused on someone's gender? A girl friend is just like a guy friend, unless you have other intentions. <3

If the relationship is making you unhappy (as it has been for a while now I think??) then you need to break it off for the best of both of you. If you can sort it out, then good luck to you.

As for snail mailing, why the hell would anybody want to SNAIL MAIL?! lol We have email.. whoosh.
