The ticking is maddening,
but it's the only thing constant.
Not even the hair on my toes
stays the same.
But this clock does,
and so do all my other clocks.
I wish I were time.
Then I'd be happy.
Rather than being this not so little boy,
with a man's body.
A man's body that I cannot control.
I wish I were time
Then I could know when we would end
and when the next would begin.
See the creation and destruction of everything
Be a part of the first kiss
I wish I were time for one reason,
Time has no heart.
If it did, the world would be frozen
because time would have never wanted to take away
from the first morning when love was born.
But I am not time.
I do not know what will happen tomorrow
because I did not create it.
And that is the most maddening thing of all,
so Ill just listen to the ticking.
