Windows 2000 all the way. I love how stable it is. I hate XP though, even though it is just as stable, it would suck to have all that stupid looking rounded edge crap.

ohhh i'll play too! i have windows XP and its so cool...hahaha i'm so lazy that i made all my fav websites into links on the toolbar! hahaha but yeah....it rules! there are so many things you can do with it! but.... i have to say Macs sure are better for stupid ppl like me......and thats why i love them! lol

I really don't have one...I use Unix, MacOS, Windows, Solaris, Linux, QNX, etc...

I'm an XP-user, I like it--stable, aesthetically pleasing, nice and organized (the window-grouping on the taskbar is the greatest feature added since 98, in my opinion). Big, and takes up a lot of RAM, but it came with the computer and the computer's like maxed out on all that stuff so I haven't been able to notice if it causes computers to run slow.
I don't like its lack of customizeability as far as aesthetics go, but other than that I love it.
Hmm... maybe that's what I should do with my lap-top; install Linux. I've been wanting a Linux-box for a while.
But no, the single greatest OS of ALL TIME is, without a doubt:

Linux, FreeBSD and Win2k.
As for Win xp it had way too much crap in it. Its just win2k with all the crap shoved in it. As visual styles go I like light style 3rd in KDE.

Even though I've never had it on any of the computers that I use frequently, Windows 2000.
But as for OS's that I use, I gotta say XP. There's so much you can do to customize it that I felt like a kid in a candy store when I started playing around.

I am using XP on this machine. Red Hat linux is my linux distro of choice, but I've always wanted to give Gentoo a shot, but I had trouble getting to it to boot from the burned CDs. Even then, I would still want to wait for ATI to get some linux drivers so I can actually run some games under linux. Also, no linux distro seems to like the 3Com integrated NIC on my mobo.

as long as it isnt windows 95 based (95, 98, 2000, ME) i dont much care.
most of the ones that ive used are old now, dos 3.2, dos 6.0, dos 6.2, dos 7.4, win 3.0, win 3.1, win 3.11, win 95, win 98, win 98 2nd edition, win xp home edition, win xp office edition, the first version of macOS (which is b&w) and the newest version of macOS. ive used others as old as commodore's but i wont bother naming them lol

Uh, Win2k is not based on Win9x slick.
Windows 2000 the first NT based OS that really became popular enough to contend with Win9x on the desktop. NT4 and prior just did not have enough software compatibility.

Uh, Win2k and Win95/98/Me are no where near the same thing. Win2k is much more stable, has more robust networking configurations, built in http/ftp servers, better security options, etc.
You should be slapped upside the head for comparing 2k to 9x.
