Installing Xp (pic Inside)

Post by Unknown2992 »

Hey everyone,

I've had the "XP Installer" for a while now and really want to put it on. But I'm faced with an option, if I put it on and it messes up, I have to pay for all the repairs and things. I don't think it would though, as you get the choice of "Upgrade" or "New Installation" and I only want to upgrade as that keeps what we have on the comp so far. Here's a pic:

So, should I do it?

Thanks,

if you are truly worried... just back up everything....

I am supposing that you might have a burner.. so go out and by some blanks and copy all your files over...

but worried or not, I would recommend backing up all your information... just in case your computer crashes someday

There have been numerous horror stories of "upgrading." So I say do a fresh install.

Just make backups first.

Ok, well that's one case. In any event, I was speaking more of Win98, Win98 SE and WinME XP.

yer not meant to upgrade from OS further than two versions back

so with XP u were only sposed to do ME and 2000 nothing before

if u have an OS earlyier than that u have to buy the full version of it

so for example if you have win 95 and want to run XP u have to buy the full version

(and if u are trying to run win XP on a machine that u bought with win 95 four years ago good luck! because nothing short of a mircale will get it working to its full potential or working at all)
its been two days and already i dont think i can go on without her

you shouldn't do upgrades because it will run everything reallllllly slow. I suggest you just burn all of the stuff you want to keep on a data cd or on a floppy besides mp3s and stuff because if you just do a new install its way better. :) and if it screws up you wont pay for anything you just have to reformat.

Upgrading is always a bad idea. It may work, but it almost always leads to problems. A clean install really is the best way to go.
