U.s. Draft By June 15th, 2005?

Post by CanadaCraig »

Hi Everyone!! :)

The U.S. Congress [under the direction of President Bush] has already [so it seems] set the wheels in motion to bring back the draft.

What do you think about that?!

Bringing back the Draft

This would effect every U.S. citizen who is between the ages of 18 and 26.

GREAT BIG HUG

That's not very nice....

It's actually pretty rude..

That to me is like saying

"You have to do this for me because I'm higher then you." rawr

People should have a choice in weather or not they want to fight these wars. Gosh I wish I was like 50 haha

Even though I just turned 16, I don't want to be drafted! I don't want to lose my life because of some idiot! This better not turn into another Vietnam where this would last a long time... :'(

as i said in another thread...

there wont be a draft, dont worry. the cost of a draft would be far to great these days. let alone the political reprocussions of it. our volunteer military would be enough to take on any threat.

Well, if he does win another term, it won't matter because you can only serve two terms.

I can't be drafted because I'm the only child... If I died.. That means my bloodline would end.. They can't draft an only child (according to the constitution)! Those of you with brothers, or sisters, you're screwed! Im safe :D

Well, lets all hope that the draft won't happen b/c I'm not about to go over there and fight a war that I don't even care about.

You don't care about? You have an add for mass-killing of animals. You don't care about fellow Americans dying? You don't care about helping rehabilitate a country that has suffered dictatorship and now a brutal war?

Please, be a little less ignorant and selfish.

If I were drafted, I would go. I don't agree with the war in Iraq, however, I don't believe we should just pull out now. I would go in order to help the people of Iraq and help my fellow Americans survive.

Tree Fingers, her stance is neither ignorant nor selfish. I wouldn't go either. It's still a war, it's still a pre-emptive war, it's still a place that we shouldn't be in. Just because she doesn't care doesn't make her ingnortant or selfish.

Actually I believe it is a part of the Military Selective Service Act, not the constitution. I have read the constitution many times and never have I seen mentionings of this.

There will not be a draft. It would have to be approved by both houses of congress and unless we are in a full scale war, not one scattered across the globe there will not be support behind one. The members of congress who would support it have to think about re-election even if the president does not, and no it will not pass. Also I believe there would be mass riots if the draft were to pass.

Let's chill out now. I sent this article to my father b/c I was concerned. I e-mailed him at his office and he sent me this:

Sam - it's all bullshit, as are the other articles on the AFP. It is a left

wing, anti-government, anti-Israel newspaper, anti-Semitic newspaper. If

you read the other articles, especially the ones about 9-11, you'll see what

I am talking about. Before you quote something, know the agenda of the

source material.

Always watching your back,

Dad

Believe it or not, my dad is almost ALWAYS right.

"The fear", yoaliens?

What makes you think that Bush would wait a SECOND to bring the draft back? If he gets elected, that's what he's going to do. He's not even close to being done in Iraq, even though we're not EXACTLY doing anything great (to say the most) .

The whole arrangement's designed for men who, at some time or other in their lives, were looking for something their own environment couldn't supply them with. Or they thought their own environment couldn't supply them with. So they gave up looking. They gave it up before they ever really even got started"

well. common sence. the cost of a draft would be way too much. the political reprocussions of it would be far too great. he would ruin his political carrer. republicans and democrates both dont support a draft. idk, maybe im the only one whos thinking straight. the draft isnt even needed.

no one has any proof that this will happen. its all speculation. another example of how gulible the american public is and how much the media controls us. i love it.

Those are both real bills, and they will not pass. I remember something about the one in the House was a statement about how ubsurb this war effort has become that people would take him seriously proposing this. Notice they are all Democrats behind the bills. Something is strange about them.
