How to move out

Post by Demoneyes4 » Sun Aug 19, 2007 7:26 pm

Well. I am having problems with my parents. They want me to move out and I do too. The reason why they want me to move out is because they say I don't respect them, I don't do anything to help them and blabla. The thing is that is all lies. I am 14 and my birthday is in September and I have read that you need to be 16 to legally move out by choice. I live in Canada just encase you guys wonder. I have read about fostercare but don't know how to get that. I will call to ask questions. I really hate my parents. They are extremely mean to me. They even told me that they wouldn't care if I died because they hate me. They are always telling me that the doors are "open" for me to move out. They never let me have my alone time. If I am in the computer listening to music they start screaming for me to do more chores. They have already told me that if I wanted to move out that I could but I don't know what to do. I want to but I don't have a job, a place to go or anything. I would work because I would love to move out but I'm not legally able to work. I might just lie and say I'm already 15 to work.

Friend,

I am sorry to hear about your bad relationship with your parents. Despite that, I think you should try to work things out with your parents until you are old enough to get a job and move out. I am not certain of the laws in your area, but I know you need to be at least 15 to work here where I live, and then you have to get a work permit from your local school board. Its great that you want to work, but I think you need to take a step back and examine your situation. I am 20 and I still live with my dad, and I will live with him until I am done with school. I have at least 2 more years of university left. Moving out is a real burden and its not as glorious as it may sound. I would suggest staying home for at least a few more years.

I'd wait a while. You don't want to burn any bridges with your folks. They may snap out of it soon. You never know. Just do your best to keep busy with school activities that will keep you after school and stuff. That way you all wont cross paths much. Those are just my thoughts though. And yes, a school guigence couselor should help as well. Tell them how you feel.

Good luck hun. If you need to talk, I'm around!

i disagree. If you move out into foster care or somthing like that, may help in the long run. Parents dont just snap out of things. It takes time and work.

Your parents sound emotionally and verbally abusive and therefore I think its important for you to get help with your situation (and move out of there if you can).

I would ask your guidance counsellor for info, and tell them what you told us.

Off the top of my head, depending on your age, country or state, there are three options.

1 Foster care.

2 Living with close relatives (or mature adult friend/family friend in some situations) who then become your legal guardian(s).

3 Sheltered housing for teenagers.

I hope everything works out for you.

Take care,

Lena.

why dont you try and stay at a familys house for a while?

dont you fave family?

or friends?

move in to a friends for a while

because getting a job i dont think would help you

and lying wont get shit

most jobs want a birthcirtificate for your age

and usually require a work permit from school

and your parents have to sign it

and even if you did get a job

youd be working non stop just to make enough for rent to live anywhere

shit is not cheap

specially for a 14/15 year old

itd be a but annoying to jugle school and work that young too

pitch a tent in the backyard

and zip it shut so they cant bitch at you

fake your own death and make them happy

and stay at a friends

they prolly just talk

and would care

at least a little if you died

good luck with you shit

whatever you do

Not true, as sated in the first post this person lives in Canada. As i am canadian born and raised i know that that is not true. Some place do hire 14 year olds. However, they do not get many hours and its mostly for experiance. Several people i know have had jobs since they were 14. I had a paper route when i was 10 years old till i was 17. They ask your age, but often do not require proof. They do require a SIN number though.

A paper route is in no way enough to move out with. Depending on the route, you may only get 100 a month.

It sounds as though your parents are very emotionally troubled and that you have some problems. Perhaps it is best if you BOTH take a break from eachother, at least for a few days, if not a few weeks. Could you stay with another family member perhaps? Or a friend?

In my opinion, there is a reason why there's a legal age to move out. Fourteen is not really old enough, as you cannot support yourself financially and there is much more to moving out than just that. Plus, you have school.

i wasnt suggesting getting a paper route. I siad i had a paper route. FYI i ended up with over $10,000 when i quit. I am saying that at 14 you can get a job here. My little sister worked at a tanning salon when she was 14, and my good friend worked at an ice cream place when she was 14. You will not get many hours. We are talking like 6-10 hours if that. You will get more if you are 15.
