the sky broke today
and fell down in a million little pieces
they drop drop dropped onto the stone statues outside
the magic that made the stars sparkle
soaked into the earth, the leaves, the people
all started to come alive
and suddenly the ground sank when i stepped down, branches trembled in the wind
the people
oh, the people, as they ran about, shouted, smiled
unaware that they had ever been stoic
as if the ages of darkness had been simply a second in time that only i had noticed
i scrambled to pick up the pieces of shattered canopy, to send them back above
but they ran through my fingers, slipped from my hold
so hopeless i surrendered
and now, for a second in time, only i notice the gaping hole overhead.
the world moves on.

Broken Sky
You couldn't be suicidal if your life depended on it.
there i go again, pretending that i'll fall
don't call the doctors!
they've seen it all before
they'll say just let her crash and burn
she'll learn
the attention just encourages her.

Re: Broken Sky
so moving; i felt every word in that poem. wonderful!
Too often we underestimate the power of a touch, a smile, a kind word, a listening ear, an honest compliment, or the smallest act of caring, all of which have the potential to turn a life around.
