Im just curious, because technically they are the same thing, you know? Except one you watch w/ your eyes and the other you read w/ your eyes and indireclty watch it w/ your eyes becusae (i at least) have a "movie" in my brain when i read...

Personally i say "no, no" cuz i don't think there is such a thing as a sin, its just right or wrong...

so what do you think

I believe they're both a sin, since I follow the Bible. The Bible says that lust is one of the seven deadly sins, and porn and erotica incite lust.

Both are sins in my book.

I say yes to both, but with a condition.

If when you look at the porn/read the books you are thinking about yourself doing all the things, having sex, etc, then YES they are sins. Which is what most people do, I assume.

But if you just like books like that, then I guess it wouldn't be. However, I don't think anyone reads them just because they like the books. :P

My opinion. :)

From a secular perspective, these types of media are only harmful if they affect others' well-being.

But personally, I choose not to engage in such activities.

I dont see how you dont believe in sins though you believe in right or wrong. Believing in sins doesnt have to have anything to do with religion. Sins have to do with right or wrong.

pretty much in my eyes you just said nothing is wrong with porn, its perfectly alright.

It may be the same as wrong, but i don't go around and say omg thats a sin, i say omg thast wrong...there is a difference in my eyes, because i don't want to say the word sin nor have anything affiliated w/ the religious concept...

I don't really see anything wrong w/ it...i mean obviously its wrong if its minors, because it sagainst the law and everyhting...

but the concept of porn, i don't see anything wrong w/ it

Normal catholics or other religious people dont do that either. I really wonder where you get your view of religious people, its really off. Maybe theres some wierd catholics who live by you or something. That sounds really childish to me to say omg I cant say sin because it may be affiliated with a religious topic. Your really going too way to far to excude yourself from anything with any religious nature.

I don't see anything wrong with it, personally. HOWEVER, from the Bible perspective, its a sin. Jesus said to look at somebody lustfully was 'to comit sin in the minds eye' and also to 'tear out/off' the guilty eye, hand etc.

yoaliens, its not like i try to avoid saying the word, its just when i say it i have bad memories or inclinations...

when i think of the word sin i think of a designed negative, a negative that is in the eyes of god...

im sick of people who base their lives around what is a sin and what is ok, i don't understand it...

people should focus on whats right verse whats wrong...yes a sin and a wrong doing are technically the same thing, but the terminolgy does something to me...when i think of sin i think of people bashing others by sinning their way of life or the way they do something...

i dunno, just where i grew up people use the word sin alot and its always affiliated w/ the religious aspect...

so indirectly i don't say the word sin, i say that is wrong...but i am not childish by avoiding the word sin because i don't want to speak religiously, its just not a word that comes off of my tounge...

^^^I kinda understand what you mean. The word 'sin' is usually associated with religion and usually brings to me, the thoughts of a person having done something wrong (something petty) in Victorian times and being reprimanded for it :/

yep, yep exactly...

like for instance, it is a sin to admire others possesitions, becuase it means you are demaning the possesions that you have; thus demeaning the possesions that god has given you because he directed you at the store to purchase the item or he gave you the gift to get the job that gave you the money that led to the purchase...

thats a sin, but is it wrong? no

How is that not wrong? Getting jealous of other peoples things can bring tension with that relationship and can bring forth hate. You can also begin to be attached to material posessions, which is both wrong and "a sin." Religion can be shown in everyday life easily, theres alot of logic in it. Its not just the religions opinion. Even then, Sure it MAY be a sin, but its a way less serious sin. There are different types of sins you know... Its not that this sin is equal to murder.

By the way, sorry for taking your thread so off topic.

Who voted yes?

I don't think so. It's called fucking human nature. We all masturbate. We all fantasize. I'm sure Jesus did as well.
