Do Teachers Have The Right To Keep Kids From Hearing Obama Speak?!

Post by CanadaCraig »

Hi Everyone!! <img src='http://www.helpingteens.org/groups/publ ... /smile.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':)' />

I hope you're OK.

President Obama will be speaking to students - LIVE - over the Internet and C-Span [If I remember correctly] on the first day of school. And some schools have decided NOT to give their students the opportunity to hear Obama speak.

I SAY.....

Who do they think they are?!

How dare a TEACHER [Or school board or whoever is in charge] decide on behalf of other American citizens that those citizens can't hear their president speak directly to them. Every citizen has a RIGHT to hear what their president - their 'leader' - is saying. To interfere with that RIGHT is - in my opinion - completely inappropriate.

But that's ME.

What do YOU think!?!

GREAT BIG HUG

I agree, Craig. It's odd to me why a school board/teacher would not allow their students to watch Obama's speech. Must be some personal grudge or something, because it's not like it's a 3 hour speech, it's only 20 minutes (out of an 8 hour day!). Gimme a break.

I heard parents were not allowing their children to go to school that day in order for them to not even know about the broadcast. Now, that IS crazy. cough racism cough

Here (Texas, where most people dislike him A LOT) schools were trying to ban teachers from showing it and all sorts of stuff.. It was ridiculous the lengths people would go to avoid having their children hear him speak. Because 20 mins of stay in school kids is going to turn them all into socialist zombies and whatnot...
