Sat Scores?

Post by InnocenceLost57 »

Sorry if there's already a topic about this but my computer is being really stupid and like the internet disconnects about every 3 minutes, reconnects, etc., so i cant do a search because it freezes, so i figured id post while i can.

Does anyone know what a good SAT score would be? I got my results back today, and it confuses me...apparantly it used to be like 1600 but now its 2400? or something? Anyone know what the average score is?

Thanks. Hopefully this'll go through.

well it is out of 2400 becuase its 800 per section...

every scholarship and college i have applied for ask for verbal (critical reading) and math section...right now they don't even care about the writing section...

and an average score with those two (just add them together, so it owuld be out of 1600) is around a 950-1000...

anything around a 1000 is good, my 1st time i got a 1050 and they said that was above average, but in order to apply for my college i needed an 1100...

so basically just add those two scores and if its around a 950, then that is average...

Ah. well I didn't do poorly at all then.

Is it true that if you take it twice you can take the better score for verbal and math from both ones? like a higher sccore on verbal for one and a higher score on math from the other? cos id like to do better at math, but i DONT want to lose my verbal score at all. I love love loves it.

well see i wasn't sure about htat and that theroy *the same as yours ~ i knew i could do better on the math but was scared about the verbal ~* but i was told that they took the total accumated score (meaning whichever is the higher they take)

1st attempt: 500 verbal 600 math

2nd attempt: 530 verbal 580 math ***This would be the one they take***

but im not 100% sure on that, you can ask your gudience counsler ~ but i didn't have to becuase i got better on all subjects on my 2nd attempt...

but if your 2nd attempt is accumulated lower score then the 1st, i know they take the 1st ~ so it doens't matter if you bombed the 2nd try ~ you can still attempt to better your score, you know?

its a general fee of like 45 or something i think.

And jeff, i tried asking my counselor - shes impossible to get ahold of and doesnt talk a lot when i CAN find her. I sent her an email and she just sent something back about a seminar type thing in march about SATs. I was like fine, wahtever.

But i really really really dont want to lose my verbal score.

can you like choose which set of scores they take or something?

they will take your OVERALL top score...so you can retake it and if your 1st try is higher then your 2nd OVERALL, then they will take your 1st . . .

yeah, they aren't cheap ~ and each time you take it you have to re-pay the expense...
