Colleges!

Well, I got my first acceptance letters yesterday, so I am going to go to college!



I received it from Michigan, Penn State, and Rutgers. I have Virginia Tech, Maryland, and Connecticutt still pending.



My preference order was as follows:

1. Michigan/Va. Tech

3. Penn State

4. Maryland

5. Connecticutt

6. Rutgers



Well, being accepted to Michigan removes Penn State, Maryland, and Connecticutt from the list, since they are high tuition schools that are not in my top choice bracket. Rutgers only in on the list if it gives me a lot of money in scholorships...



Thus, my fear has been realized. I need to choose between Michigan and Virginia Tech, whose decision comes out April 1. Does anyone know of pros and cons of each of the schools?



Here are my pros and cons that I've come up with...



Michigan:

Pros:

My dream school

Nice campus

Nice financial aid

Winter Weather

Very friendly towards their students



Cons:

Costly



Virginia Tech:

Pros:

Very concentrated in engineering

Civil engineering has its own building!

Campus is to die for.

90% of engineering students get a hefty scholorship



Cons:

In the heat of Virginia

VERY militaristic

Not quite as prestigeous as Michigan (Va. Tech Engineering is, but nobody looks at that)

I don't know if this will be useful but I personally say this....it's up to you, you're going to be spending your next 4 years at that school so choose wisely, in this case I'd say go with your feelings (I usually don't advocate that), just look at the caumpuses and go with which you really feel good with.

<span style="font-family:Georgia"Yea, Blacksburg is quite populated. (where Virginia Tech is) I wouldnt say big is the worse thing, but there are quite a few colleges in the area. There is Radford University so I guess there are quite a few college kids. Well I hope you make a good decision on the college you decide to attend. Go Wolverines! Go Hookies! Take Care.

yeah just choose which one you think will suit you best, and which best fits w/ your desired major...

from the sounds of it, you are going to be in engineering ~ and i can't talk for the other ones, i know Penn State has a very good engineering program (i have a few of my hs friends enrolled in engineerng at Penn State . . . .)
