Man, are you allowed to have microwaves or mini fridges? In our dorms, the only thing we couldn't have was an open-slotted toaster. We could have a toaster oven and any other cooking appliances essentially. Jeff that just sounds crazy.

I know about fire hazards but come on now, rice cookers, crock pots, coffee makers, fucking water filters are also outlawed? A bit extreme don't you think? This is what it sounds like to me, no coffee makers, if you have coffee makers then you can't buy from their coffee shops, no crock pots, cuz if u have crock pots you don't go and buy from their crock pot shops? (or where ever they sell crock pot stuff), no rice cooker, if you had a rice cooker you can't go buy their rice, and I have no idea why they would outlaw a water filter. If they're so worried about running up their electric bill then why offer dorms in the first place? I'm not saying that everything should be allowed but this seems like the extreme

I don't get the water filter thing but I do understand the crock pot and toaster, etc. You can be dumb and leave them on and they'll catch fire or they'll just plain over heat. We're allowed to have mini fridges in our dorm and then we have a communal kitchen with an oven and microwave and toaster. It's not really as horrible as you make it seem.

I get the toaster, that's hazardous if you leave it on, the crockpot maybe, the rice cooker? I have a rice cooker and you leave it there to cook after it's done cooking it turns to keep warm mode. The crock pot okay that can happen so I suppose you knock that off the list, but come on now, coffee makers, water filters, and rice cookers these are all machines that start and finish the job on their own. Again I can understand not allowing certain objects that can potentially be dangerous but again this is really pushing it.

I'll definetely have to check out what's allowed and what isn't.

Are you allowed to nail/tack things to the walls? I was under the impression that making holes in the walls wasn't allowed most places.

Thanks for all the advice, this is really helpful. My list keeps getting longer!

nails and tacs aren't allowed...

one thing though is you can get corkboards and put them up w/ the 2sided sticky junk (NOT tape, but the gooy stuff, haha)...

some dorms here come with small corkboards already, but the majority don't...

Bath Robe

Lots of microwaveable food!

Yeah, a lot of this stuff is hypothetical, but once you know for sure which dorm you'll be in or where you're going you'll have better guidelines.

I'm going to be straight up honest here.. don't over load your dorm room with a bunch of stuff.. if you need something extra ask someone to borrow theirs or go get it once your there.. move in will be much easier if you do.
