stoned to dead for working sundays

alright, honestly....

do you really, or still get stoned to death for working sundays??

because, i just started working, and im really scared that you do get stoned for working sundays

and i asked for sundays off

but this sunday im having to work

because my friend needed to trade days

so she can walk in the relay for life

[for thoes that dont know, its a walk to raise money for cancer]

and so i asked someone

and they said even if you do get stoned for working

its for a good cause

a really good cause

so god would forgive me

but would he?

would he really?

no one understands how terrified i am of this...

i mean

i dont go to church or anything

but i completly believe and love god

you know

i dunno





i just dont wanna go to hell

or get stoned to death

I wasn't sure how to respond to your question so I searched the net and found a message posted on a message board at crosswalks.com. [For people of faith] I've never seen that message board before - but thought it was quite interesting. In response to a question about the Sabbath [Which some believe is Saturday and some believe is Sunday] someone posted the following reply. I copied most of it and pasted it here - in my message to you. Although not my words - I do agree with them.



Here is what that person said....



"I believe the Sabbath was fulfilled in Jesus Christ. The Sabbath was not eliminated, but just fulfilled. Now every day is the Sabbath. [One day being as important as the next - says Craig] The purpose of the Sabbath was to rest from our good works and fellowship with God. Thanks to Jesus, we rest in Him from all our works. "Come unto Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest" (Matthew 11:28-30). Jesus gives us rest from our works, because He already completed the work on the cross. We don't have to be under the burden of sin and death [Which is what is meant by 'works' - says Craig] for Jesus overcame sin and death. Now we just rest in Him. In the old covenant [The Old Testament - says Craig] the Sabbath was the seventh day, which is Saturday. In the new covenant [The New Testament - says Craig] the Sabbath is everyday. It has nothing to do with going to church on this day or that day.



When looking at the Genesis account, notice how at the end of every day during the six days of creation, God said, "And the evening and the morning were the" first day, second day, third day, fourth day, fifth day, and sixth day, but notice He doesn't end the seventh day like that. That is because the Sabbath is to be continuous. However, under the old covenant the Sabbath was held every Saturday as a foreshadow of Jesus first advent. In the new covenant, the Sabbath is now a continuous seven days a week. [Sunday not being any more or less important than any other day of the week - says Craig]



Please keep in mind Romans 14 especially verse 23, "And he that doubteth is damned if he eat, because he eateth not of faith: for whatsoever is not of faith is sin." Let each person be convinced in His own mind. If anyone doubts that what I spoke of above is true, then keep the Sabbath on Saturday, or Sunday, or which ever day you are convinced it is. I am convinced in my own mind that the Sabbath is every day [And so do I - says Craig] for Jesus is our rest and He abides in us and we abide in Him."



What does all that mean? How does this apply to you?! Jesus is telling us that it's up to US to decide whether or not we choose to make Saturday or Sunday or EVERYDAY the Sabbath. If you - personally - believe that you shouldn't work on Sunday - than you have an obligation to your belief to honour that. If you [now] believe as I do - then you think of EVERYDAY as the Sabbath. Does that mean that if you think that everyday is the Sabbath that you should never work?! lol Nice try!! But NO!! It simply means that you believe that no particular day is more worthy than the next insofar as worshiping and fellowshipping with God is concerned.



So basically - this is a very long winded way of me telling you to follow your heart. For that is exactly what I believe Jesus is telling us to do.

well!

i worked my sunday..

and so far,

im still alive...

but i dunno how quick that whole stoned to death thing was suposed to kick in...



but so far im safe,

One of my old friends' families didn't believe that people shouldn't work on Sundays.

They believe the day is holy, and should be treated as such.

They have never mentioned stoning people for working on Sundays.

My dad works on Sundays....

My mom works on Sundays...

Neither of them are dead yet, or have complained about being stoned recently...

I'll ask them if they have and that they've been holding it in.



I wouldn't worry about it, honestly.

Jesus came to free you from legal obligations necessary to enter Heaven. The Pharisees thought they had Him when He healed a man on the Sabbath. Plus, if it was still illegal to work on the Sabbath, churches would have a bit of an issue with anyone besides the pastor and the congregation showing up. But instead, there are accountants, janitors, and plenty of other people that showed up.



Follow the new covenant, not the list of laws that all lead to death and banishment

Haha, Munchkin has a good point that I only just realised. Don't forget priests are paid to do their job. They work on Sundays - they lead worship - and none of them have a problem with it under their beliefs!



That and you need to remember that the bible was written a long long time ago and times have changed. Some of it was revised when Jesus came along and the new testament was written, and some of it is so based in ancient cultural practices that we need to revise the guidelines for the modern day culture we live in.

but when the end of the world comes

but im sure im going to hell for more reaons than just working sundays

so i shouldent be so worried about that!
