I'm Out,

Post by Glitter »

Ok so after about a year of knowing, I finally came out to a select group of friends that I'm bi. The more liberal of the group were just like cool, gave high fives for coming out and such. But then there are the few that now shy away from me because they assume I'm going to hit on them. Which isn't it at all. Any suggestions on how to explain to them I'm still the same Jamie, and what not.

Eh, you can approach this two ways.

Personally, I think that if somebody is afraid of you and your sexuality - it means that they really don't deserve to be your friend. Sexuality doesn't change who you are - they should know that.

If people shy away from me, I just forget them. I am who I am, you know? Nothing can ever change that, and sexuality doesn't mean that I'm going to hit on them.

If you want, you can explain that all guys don't hit on all girls, so therefore you won't do the same thing.

Or you can tell them to fuck off.

*shrug*

Good luck man, and congrats.

i agree w/ jenna...

personally i am usually the 2nd...i try to convince guys that i don't hit on them and such and it took several years for them to actually realize it...

and now things are somewhat better (yeah there are still the assholish-shy guys) but hey they are intitled to their own opinion...

just be proud of who you are and don't denie it...talk to those shy ones and if they don't agree and are uncomfortable then tell then you'll still be there when they are ready to realize that you don't love them more than a friend...

good luck hun, and welcome to the out world :)
