i was thinking about how, in say, suicde, we cant discuss how someone killed themself etc, in case it gives sum1 ideas to do that etc, where, in the other forums, you can discuss (eg, the Hanging topic in General) it. someone would see that, and it'll give them a idea. also, like in eating disorders, we cant discuss figures (eg how much we weigh) but we can in other topics. i was wondering, for rules like that, cant they apply for throughout the whole website-have the same rules for thoughout the whole website.
i know its just a stupid suggestion, but i was just wondering...

Re: The Rules For Different Forums
It's not stupid but rather we would not cencor everything. There are certain things that trigger different types of issues, such as methods of suicide in the suicide forum. Yes they can be triggering everywhere but usually those who are suicidal who need/want help go to the suicide forum to get the help... when they do and they see these methods, they can get ideas and instead of getting help, follow through and complete suicide.
Same with the rest. Of course we could make it a global rule, however if we did, we would have to start censoring more things, like swearwords and so forth because of the 'abliity' to be provocative and insulting, etc.
We have just decided to do it in the appropriate forums after seeing and overlooking the forums for a period of time and seeing what makes the general pubic's mindset tick.

Re: The Rules For Different Forums
It's a good suggestion, but the point of teenhelp is to help. Where some people just want to talk about those things and if censored it's not really doing anything.
If you could ban certain people from seeing certain topics, or banning certain people from seeing topics that have such words in them it would work, but that's completely pointless.
