Music, And How It Affects Life.

by | Sep 25, 2003 | Miscellaneous

Music has always been a large part of our lives for so many years. Remember sitting down in front of your Mom’s old Yamaha keyboard and trying to play the theme tune to “Hawaii 5”? As a kid, I was enrolled in a program called “The Music In The Making” where I learned to play over the course of 4 years a bit of: Violin, Guitar, Flute, and Clarinet. I have performed in a trio at the Living Arts Centre in Mississauga, Ontario for a teachers meeting, in front of about 300 people who were complete strangers. I have learned a number of different instruments through school as the years have progressed, the guitar, the clarinet, the bass clarinet, the Saxophone, and of course, voice. I took Music all through junior high school and high school. As I sit at the computer day in, day out I always have my MP3’s playing on a random playlist. When I am at work, I have the radio on or if the computer I’m using has sound, I stream mp3 music from the latest ShoutCast streams. I always have music around me and it helps me deal with my every day life.

What is a classic to someone, may not hit the ear drum of another with such a melody. I personally am a big fan of Enigma and the sounds of trance music, there are people out there who would disagree with me. The music we listen to is largely affected by the generation we grow up in and what is an influence in our lives at the time (relationships, drugs, death, etc). I know that in a few years, many of the bands I listen to will either have grown to such a super level and will be world-renowned for their talents, or they will be gone and forgotten.

Music always has been, and shall continue to be, a very strong source of expression, comfort, and plain uplifting for me for a good few years to come. I hope everyone out there has a favourite band or artist and shall continue to enjoy this wonderful art as much as I do.
